ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University senior Thomas Parrott was named to the 2010 Fred Mitchell Award Watch List for the second straight season on Wednesday.  Parrott, also a 2009 preseason watch list nominee and award finalist, was one of 40 kickers from all 4-year non-BCS institutions across the nation tabbed to the watch list, and the only kicker from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference selected to the list.

Parrott was named to the First Team All-NSIC North Division squad as a punter in 2009 and was a Second Team North Division Place Kicker after handling all of the place-kicking and punting duties for the Wolves.  He averaged 39.4 yards per punt and was a solid 20-for-21 on PAT attempts.

Parrott was also honored by the Fred Mitchell Award committee as its October monthly award winner last season after drilling five of his last seven field goal attempts.  The Tampa, Fla., native also turned in a 10-point effort on Oct. 10 against the University of Mary, hitting three of four field goals and hitting his only PAT attempt of the game.

Off the field, Parrott is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and an annual participant in NSU’s Day of Champions.

The Fred Mitchell Award is given to the nation’s top collegiate kicker among more than 600 FCS, Division II, III and NAIA teams.
