Complete Division II Attendance Figures
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – For the third straight season, the Northern State University women’s basketball program has led the entire Division II nation in attendance, according to the final national statistics released by the NCAA last week. The Wolves drew 40,564 total fans to 14 home games for an average of 2,897 fans per contest.
The Wolves easily edged second place Fort Hays State, who drew an average of 2,214 fans per game. NSU was the only Division II institution to top the 40,000 total fans plateau.
One of three Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference schools in the top ten, the Wolves helped the NSIC to a third place finish amongst Division II conferences. The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) had four members in the top six and took home top honors in the conference standings.
The top tier ranking marks the third straight year that NSU has led the nation in attendance in both men’s and women’s basketball. It also marks the sixth straight campaign in which the women’s program has finished in the top three. Since the 1999-2000 season when the NCAA officially started tracking women’s basketball attendance figures, the Wolves have finished out of the top ten just once, an 11th place ranking during the 2003-04 season.
