Regional Top 10 Rankings
Complete Regional Rankings
NEW ORLEANS, La. – Following strong performances at last weekend’s Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championships, the Northern State University men’s and women’s track and field squads moved up into eighth and twelfth place, respectively, in the latest regional rankings, which were released by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The regional standing marks the first time during the 2010 outdoor campaign that the men have cracked the top ten. The Wolves finished the indoor season ranked No. 7.
NSU finished seventh at the recently completed NSIC Outdoor Championships, but still garnered enough points to move up three places in the region. The Wolves were 11th in last week’s set of rankings, but leapfrogged three teams – including NSIC foes Concordia-St. Paul and the University of Mary – to move into the eighth spot.
The NSU women climbed two spots into the No. 12 slot following their sixth place finish at the conference meet. That ranking marks the third time the Wolves have claimed the 12th spot in the regional listing in the outdoor season. The Wolves were ranked as high as 11th on two occasions through the season.
Overall, the Wolves had nine total athletes that earned 12 All-NSIC certificates at the conference meet, including individual champions Amanda Madden (women’s hammer throw), Melodi Boke (shot put), Bill Cameron (400 meter hurdles) and Andrew Rose (high jump). The Wolves also set new school records in four different events (women’s hammer, women’s shot put, women’s steeplechase and men’s pole vault).
