NSIC RELEASE
ST. PAUL, Minn. – Northern State University senior Mitch Boeck added one more notch to his list of career accomplishments on Thursday when he was tabbed to the All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference First Team. The All-NSIC squads were selected by the league’s 14 head coaches prior to last night’s start of the conference tournament.
Boeck, NSU’s lone senior in 2009-10, led the Wolves in scoring this season, averaging 17.7 points per game. His 19.4 points in conference games ranks him third in the NSIC, while his 90.4 percent efficiency from the free throw line put him in the top five in the country throughout the season.
Despite a rough start to the season, Boeck turned up the heat in the final 13 games of the season, averaging 23.3 points per game in that stretch, including back-to-back 30-point efforts against Winona State and Upper Iowa. His 37 points against the Peacocks marked a career high for Boeck and was the second-highest scoring output by a single player in head coach Don Meyer’s tenure at NSU.
Boeck ends his career as the 35th most prolific scorer in NSU history with 1,103 career points.
