13th Annual Football Golf Tourney a Success
FAULKTON, S.D. – Friends and alumni of Northern State University got together for some golf, refreshments, food, and sports talk Friday, June 5th, in Faulkton, S.D. for the 13th Annual Football Golf Tournament held at Lakeside Country Club.

A total of 58 golfers took part in the action, and the team of Charlie Jakober, Zach Flakus, Richard Traphagen, Brett Rezatto, Steve Millard and Todd Jordre took home top honors in the six-man scramble.

Dakotah Bank served as the primary sponsor of the event by paying for all the green fees for the golfers to participate in the tournament.

Featured auction items included:  Adrian Peterson autographed helmet and jersey, John Elway autographed jersey, Brian Urlacher autographed jersey, 2008 Denver Broncos team autographed football, NASCAR tickets, Minnesota Twins tickets, and many other items.

Aside from the auction items, teams were able to purchase raffle tickets from three Sioux Falls Storm Lightning Girls that made their way up to Faulkton.  Prizes for the raffle tickets included:  a golf bag, golf balls, a putter, tool sets, and other gift certificates to be used in the Aberdeen and Faulkton areas.  Two teams also won $200 dollars in the early-bird drawing and they were the teams of Shawn Wanner (Groton, S.D.) and Roger Legge (Aberdeen/Faulkton).

Northern State Head football coach Chris Boden had this to say when all was said and done.   “I’m very pleased.  The weather was great, and there was a good turnout.    I’m proud of the staff; Rich Sweeney organizes and puts everything together and we’ve got about five months of effort into preparing and getting auction items.  They did a great job all of them.  All of the staff busted their butts today to feed everybody, make everybody happy with what they’re eating and what they’re drinking, and enjoying a great round of golf.  The people of Faulkton treat us outstanding, and we couldn’t ask for more.”

Northern State University is an NCAA Division II affiliated school participating in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and is located in Aberdeen, South Dakota.
