Magrino returns to NSU as assistant coach
ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University men’s basketball coach Don Meyer has announced that Dan Magrino has been hired as an assistant basketball coach.  Magrino, a 2008 graduate of NSU, returns to the Wolves after spending one year as a graduate assistant at Georgia College & State University.

“I am extremely excited to return to Northern and the opportunity to coach in this program,” said Magrino of his appointment.  “Coach Meyer and the staff do a tremendous job of developing high-character student-athletes, as well as successful basketball teams.  The continued support of the Aberdeen community allows the Wolves to realize and appreciate the uniqueness of residing here.”

Magrino spent four years in uniform with the Wolves, helping the team to three NCAA Division II national tournament appearances.  A native of Pembroke Pines, Fla., Magrino then spent the 2008-09 season on the sidelines at GCSU, working primarily with the post players and assisting with recruiting.  The Bobcats put together a 22-7 season and made the national tournament pool for the first time since 2006.

Magrino will serve as the top assistant for the 37-year coaching veteran Meyer.  The all-time winningest coach in NCAA men’s basketball history, Meyer enters the 2009-10 campaign with 910 career victories.
