Athletes of the Week
James Paul
Baseball
James Paul (Sr., SS, R/R, 5-8, 165, Paynesville, Minn. / Paynesville HS) led the Wolves batters with a .542 average in their 1-5 week this week.  He went 13-24 with five RBI, two doubles, and four runs scored with a .625 slugging percentage and a .577 on-base percentage (1.202 OPS).  The senior also earned two walks and was a perfect 2-2 on stolen base attempts.


Ashley Gabler
Softball
Ashley Gabler (OF, So., Minnetonka, Minn./Benilde-St. Margarets HS) led the Wolves with a .357 batting average in six conference games this week.  After struggling in two home games on Wednesday, Gabler bounced back to go 5-for-9 (.556) at the plate for the Wolves in their four-game road trip and racked up a .600 on base percentage.  The sophomore drilled her second home run of the season in the first game of Sunday’s doubleheader against 24th ranked Minnesota State, Mankato, breaking up the Mavericks’ shut-out bid in the process.

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. 
-  The Northern State University women’s swimming team completed their participation at the Falcon Invite Saturday in Minneapolis, Minn. and finished in ninth place in the red division with 96 team points.

The meet was hosted by the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.

Previously unbeaten sophomore Christine Retzlaff finished out of first place for the first two times in individual events this year with a second-place finish in the 400-yard IM A final with a time of 4:48.52 and a third-place finish in the 200-yard breast A final with a time of 2:33.17.  Prior to those events Retzlaff had won all her individual events on the season.

The Wolves got a ninth-place finish on Saturday in the 400-free relay A final with a time of 3:49.22.  Members of that squad included Retzlaff, Allie Samuels, Sarah Iwerks, and Brooke Larson.

They had one other final competitor in their B final squad in the 400-free relay that placed 24th with a time of 4:09.23.  Members of that relay team included Alana King, Teal Jacobsen, Laura McCowan, and Jordan Robles.

The Wolves are next in action on December 11th when they host Concordia-Moorhead in a dual meet.
