Morris, Minn.
– The Northern State University swim team kept up their pace from last night, in earning two wins at the UM-Morris/Morningside College Double Dual Saturday in Morris, Minn.  The Wolves were victorious over Morningside by a 65-57 margin, and they then defeated UM-Morris for the second-straight day, this time by a 72-59 margin.

“This meet was another test of where we are early in the season.  The performances set us up for good season and top times for many of our athletes which will impact our overall team scoring. We have some hard work ahead and we are exciting to move forward into the season,” explained NSU head coach Elyce Kastigar.

Christine Retzlaff picked up right where she left off the night before, by winning all four events she was in on the day.  She set a new school record and broke the UM-Morris Pool record in the 200-yard breaststroke with her time of 2:37.39, winning by 14 seconds over the second-place finisher.  She also took top honors in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:04.19 and the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:55.85, beating her nearest competition by :22.45.  She was also part of the victorious 200-yard medley team that included Brooke Larson, Sarah Iwerks, and Jordan Robles with a time of 2:02.98.

Retzlaff won every event she was in over the last two days.

Sarah Iwerks was the other first-place finisher for the Wolves, clocking in at 2:28.00 in the 200-yard butterfly for top honors.
