James Paul
Baseball
James Paul (Sr., SS, R/R, 5-8, 165, Paynesville, Minn. / Paynesville HS) led the Wolves batters with a .542 average in their 1-5 week this week.  He went 13-24 with five RBI, two doubles, and four runs scored with a .625 slugging percentage and a .577 on-base percentage (1.202 OPS).  The senior also earned two walks and was a perfect 2-2 on stolen base attempts.


Ashley Gabler
Softball
Ashley Gabler (OF, So., Minnetonka, Minn./Benilde-St. Margarets HS) led the Wolves with a .357 batting average in six conference games this week.  After struggling in two home games on Wednesday, Gabler bounced back to go 5-for-9 (.556) at the plate for the Wolves in their four-game road trip and racked up a .600 on base percentage.  The sophomore drilled her second home run of the season in the first game of Sunday’s doubleheader against 24th ranked Minnesota State, Mankato, breaking up the Mavericks’ shut-out bid in the process.

ABERDEEN, S.D. The Northern State University women’s swimming team kept their hot streak going of late, earning wins in a home double-dual Friday by scores of 88.0-34.0 over UM-Morris and 70.0-68.0 over Nebraska-Kearney.

The Wolves improved their dual/double-dual record to 5-1 on the season with the two victories that were fueled by seven first place finishes.

The 200-yard free relay proved to be the spot of a dramatic ending for the Wolves, as 
the team of Sarah Iwerks, Jordan Robles, Allie Samuels, and Brooke Larson beat the relay
team from UN-Kearney to take the lead from them and give the Wolves a sweep in the
double dual.
 

Christine Retzlaff continues to make waves with three more first place finishes Friday.  She won the 100-fly with a time of 1:01.57, took top honors in the 100-yard back with a time of 1:03.88 and the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:18.18.  She has won every individual event she has entered this season.

 

The 200-yard medley relay team of Christine Retzlaff, Allie Samuels, Sarah Iwerks, and Brooke Larson took top honors with a time of 2:01.18, giving Retzlaff and Larson both four wins on the night.  Larson also won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:03.84 and set a new school record in the 100-yard free with a time of 56.91.
