Ashley Gabler

Softball

Ashley Gabler (OF, So., Minnetonka, Minn./Benilde-St. Margarets HS) led the Wolves with a .357 batting average in six conference games this week. After struggling in two home games on Wednesday, Gabler bounced back to go 5-for-9 (.556) at the plate for the Wolves in their four-game road trip and racked up a .600 on base percentage. The sophomore drilled her second home run of the season in the first game of Sunday’s doubleheader against 24th ranked Minnesota State, Mankato, breaking up the Mavericks’ shut-out bid in the process.

James Paul

Baseball

James Paul (Sr., SS, R/R, 5-8, 165, Paynesville, Minn. / Paynesville HS) led the Wolves batters with a .542 average in their 1-5 week this week. He went 13-24 with five RBI, two doubles, and four runs scored with a .625 slugging percentage and a .577 on-base percentage (1.202 OPS). The senior also earned two walks and was a perfect 2-2 on stolen base attempts.

Northern State junior Jared Little pinned his opponent at the 4:42 mark of his match for a victory Wednesday.

JAMESTOWN, N.D. – The Northern State University wrestling team traveled through snow and cold to Jamestown, N.D. Wednesday to battle with the Jimmies of Jamestown College and Emerged with a 41-9 victory in dual action.

The Wolves found eight victories in the ten matches to score their highest dual point total of the season, and with the win improve to 3-1 in dual action this season.

141: Michel wins via pinfall over Joe Hirt at 1:56.
149: Jacob Brutrous wins via decision over DeMaine 4-1.
157: Branson wins via decision over Dustin Bonn 8-7.
165: Phil Downs wins via forfeit.
174: Donnie Bowden wins via pinfall over Moore at 3:42.
189: Chad Gibson wins via major decision over Pedrezza 14-5.
197: Brent Fosheim wins via forfeit.
HWT: Jared Little wins via pinfall over Hammond at 4:42.

The Wolves' grapplers are next in action on January 21st when they take the short trip north to Moorhead, Minn. to tangle with the #19 Minnesota State University-Moorhead Dragons.
