Catherine "Kit" Grace
Women's Soccer
After posting her third consecutive shutout and helping the Northern State University Wolves to a 4-game unbeaten streak through the pat two weeks, senior goalkeeper Catherine "Kit" Grace was named as the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.
    Grace, who is 4-1-1 with 30 saves and three shutouts in her last six games since returning from an ankle injury, made 14 saves over the weekend to help the Wolves to a double-overtime 0-0 tie at Bemidji State on Saturday and a 1-0 victory at Minnesota-Duluth on Sunday.

Northern State University's Stephanie Nygaard (Milbank, S.D.) picked up her second Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Defensive Player of the Week award of the season on Monday after extending her NSIC lead in season digs in NSU's 3-match effort last week.
    Nygaard recorded 62 digs (6.89 digs per set) on the week to extend her NSIC-leading dig count to 272.  The senior also recorded four assists and a service ace in the effort as the Wolves went 1-2, including a decisive 3-0 win over Bemidji State on Saturday.

Aden, Gilbraith Earn Tournament Accolades

ABERDEEN, S.D. – Two members of the Northern State University volleyball team earned accolades at the Las Vegas Blast Tournament this past weekend.

 

Senior Kelsey Aden was named Most Outstanding Player, while sophomore Megan Gilbraith joined her on the All-Tournament Team.

 

Aden led the Wolves with 59 kills over the four games, with a .227 hitting percentage. She also added 41digs and 14 assisted-blocks during the tournament in helping to lead the Wolves to a 4-0 record.

 

Gilbraith led the Wolves with 143 assists throughout the tournament, which kept the Wolves offense clicking, and was a major contributor to the 4-0 record. She also added 37 digs and seven assisted-blocks.

 

The Wolves continue their action on September 11th, when they travel to Dickinson, N.D. to play Dickinson State.

 

Northern State University is an NCAA Division II member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) and is located in Aberdeen, S.D.
